YANMAR HPE-4 diesel engine 50 hp, with indirect cooling. Heavy duty 160 Amp alternator, mechanical gearbox HURT on SCATRA-Coupling. Dripless seal stern gland, and Kestamid stern-bearing. Stainless steel and rubber exhaust muffler. Variprop four-bladed self-feathering propeller with independent forward and backward pitch adjustment on 35mm stainless stell propshaft.. Racor fuel filter. Morse-engine controls. Engine is contained within an aluminium sound insulated engine compartment that extends above the waterline, and has one hinged watertight aluminium inspection hatch in cabin below waterline, and another large water tight hatch above waterline, beneath companionway stairs. The engine compartment is designed so that in the unlikely event of failure of the stern-gland, or proloor sfat ripped out, flooding will be restricted to the engine compartment. An average size person can climb inside the engine compartment and sit above or behind the transmission with full lighted access to the engine, gearbox, and stern-gland. Additional more extensive bolted engine covers provide complete access to engine for removal if necessary. The engines lifts vertically through the main hatch. Electric bilge pump, Henderson manual bilge pump, exhaust-valve, heavy duty water-pump for deckwash.
